We are Minus John. We are an Alternative Rock band from Tasmania, Australia.

The group’s debut new music is a 5 song EP called “Tango”. It will be released as a download on iTunes, streaming on Spotify and CD in April 2013. Date to be announced.

For this new, intriguing and downright exciting rock band the last 6 months have been all about creating a new sound of which these members put their heart and soul into and that experience is infused throughout the “Tango” EP.

First there was the lead vocalist, guitarist and founding member of Minus John, Lee Champion, the soul and key writer to Minus John's debut material. After a very short 6 months Lee Champion consciously and successfully wrote, recorded, produced and mixed their tantalising debut EP "Tango" in his home studio. Second there was the addition of two new members (Joe Hoyle on Drums and Jack Dempsey on bass). They then approached to songwriting with a new Hobart jam house plus time planned to be spent together in that same house helping to blaze new trails for the group.

After they met through college then came Jack Dempsey and Joe Hoyle.

Joe started drums at the small age of 10. Being brought up with professional drum teachers, jazz camps and coming from various bands such as "Chaos Before Coma" and "Shine On Casanova", Joe was a sure-fire and exciting rhythm machine to have aboard Minus John.

Jack started bass at the age of 13. Being in locally well-known bands such as, "Rebellious Itch", "Ghost Of An Empire" & "Ropes" was enough to know he was a definite candidate for a permanent bassist.

Their ever-widening musical palate is particularly apparent on the pulsating title track “Tango” and on the aching love song, “Until I'm Gone”, which also features on the EP. From this came thumping drums, loud, punching guitars & succulent, pounding bass guitar. It’s a fire that grows more intoxicating with each listen.

The tracks such as "Tango" and "Until I'm Gone" provide an early taste of the what's to come from new Minus John EP which is currently nearing completion. The EP set is scheduled for release in April 2013. In addition to the tracks on the “Tango" EP, other songs from the hugely anticipated outfit are likely to be showcased when the band lights up for a handful of shows in mid 2013.
